Harley Dale Myers - April 2, 1974 - May 9, 2016

Harley Myers was born April 2nd, 1974 at Wyoming Memorial Hospital in Casper, WY to Dr. Harlen and Paula Myers. He enjoyed playing hockey, loved the outdoors, horses and hunting but most of all, time spent with family and friends.

Harley’s career as a Casper Oiler began in 1979 at 5 years of age as a mini-mite. He spent hours practicing in the frigid sheep barn at the fairgrounds that doubled as an ice arena in the winter prior to the building of the Casper Ice Arena. They traveled to Colorado primarily, but also regularly to Idaho and Montana. He played hockey for the Casper Oilers through High School. At that time, the Casper Oilers were part of the Colorado Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA). The CAHA was 90% Colorado teams. When Harley was a senior at Natrona County High School, the Oilers won the CAHA State Championship. They had a record of 16-3-3, which was the best in the league. The team was made up of 18 guys, was coached by Barry Hawker and Bill Maiers was the Team Manager. The team had the honor of being recognized by the Mayor and Casper City Council for their achievements.

After graduating from NCHS in 1992, Harley hung up his hockey skates and went on to receive a degree in Agricultural Economics and Chemistry from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. He then returned to Casper and went to work for WL Plastics. He worked his way up to Vice President of Sales and relocated to Cedar City, UT.

He became an avid team roper and qualified for the USTRC Finals several times.

Harley loved kids and even became known to some as Uncle Hawg. His passion for helping kids came from his Mother and Father. Paula taught him to love unconditionally and to put others needs first. She also taught him to give 100% in everything he did. Doc’s love for his patients taught Harley compassion and perseverance and his work ethic rubbed off on Harley as well. Harley loved life and loved to have a good time. His high school senior quote was, “Live life today, tomorrow may never come”.
